ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
MADE provides all aspects of the architectural design process, from concept to construction. We offer the following architectural services: programming, feasibility studies, master planning, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding and negotiation, value engineering, and construction administration.
Programming:
figuring out what client requires for the project
Feasibility Studies:
fitting the program on a site and ensuring code and zoning compliance
Master Planning:
developing a long-term plan for future growth that aligns with client goals and the surrounding environment
Schematic Design:
creating conceptual design using site plan, building plan(s), building sections, building elevations, and schematic 3D massing
Design Development:
illustrating and describing program development, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
Construction Documents:
preparing documents, drawings, notes, and specifications for project construction; coordinating with consulting engineers; and assisting with document filing
Bidding and Negotiation:
establishing a list of qualified contractors, submitting bid packages to bidders, answering bidders’ questions, and reviewing submitted bids
Construction Administration:
interpreting documents during construction, visiting site, evaluating construction, reviewing payment applications and contractor submittals, communicating with contractor, and preparing changes in the program if needed
SOFTWARE & TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING
Scan-to-BIM:
Scan-to-BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a process in which a physical building or space is laser scanned for the creation of a highly accurate point cloud that is then translated into a building information model. The point cloud and model are used for designing, evaluating, and/or assessing a project.

Computation Training & Implementation:
MADE offers technological consulting services in training and implementation of computational design software, including Grasshopper and Dynamo, as well as designing and developing educational content. As a team of skilled professors and architects, we have an understanding of practical and conceptual applications of visual scripting software and the teaching techniques to effectively train any experience level, from students to savvy design computation practitioners.
BIM Training & Implementation
MADE offers consulting services in BIM training and implementation. With decades of combined university teaching experience, we are well-versed in the techniques and tools for effectively training designers in the software and implementing policies and procedures for efficient use of the software across a firm. MADE has trained architecture, landscape, and engineering firms both locally and nationally in BIM software and best practices. We are also available to provide individualized project-based support.
Custom Tool Creation:
As technological experts in our industry, MADE builds custom digital tools to empower firms, automate processes, and solve problems. For example, one design challenge architects in New York City face is “Right to Light,” which prevents new construction from blocking an existing building’s access to natural light. Waldram Analysis demonstrates adherence to this law, but the manual process can take up to a week. In collaboration with Development Consulting Services, MADE developed a tool to complete Waldram Analysis within twenty minutes by automating all processes.

Façade Consulting
MADE specializes in façade consulting to ensure the feasibility and integrity of an exterior feature’s designed geometry. MADE uses emerging technologies to conduct constructability analysis, test components, and create details for construction.

Creative Liaison
MADE helps artists realize their creative vision through architectural means. We love when artists have big ideas for public or private installations. Yet artists may be unsure of how best to implement their ideas. That’s where MADE comes in. We collaborate with artists, contractors, and art consultants to provide plans and technical drawings necessary for a creative project’s success.
